Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly passed away following battle with cancer

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has allegedly passed away after battling a serious illness.

According to multiple online reports, the actor was rushed to a hospital on Monday before news of his alleged death surfaced on Tuesday afternoon. Sources quoted by several entertainment blogs claimed that the movie star had been battling kidney cancer and was placed on medical life support for hours before reportedly passing away.

Popular social media blogger Tosin Silverdam also reacted to the heartbreaking development in a video shared online. The blogger said he initially doubted the reports after receiving messages about the actor’s alleged death early in the morning.

In his words

“Popular Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, is dead. Jesus Christ of Nazareth. I got the news this morning, some hours ago. Someone texted me and asked me, did you hear about Alex Ekubo that he's dead? I said, no, I didn't hear anything. It's not possible. I don't believe it. I waited, I tried to reach out to some people. Sadly, it is true.”

Silverdam further revealed that the actor had been absent from social media for several months, sparking concerns among fans and colleagues. Rumours about his health had circulated online in recent times, although no official statement had previously been released by the actor or his management team.

Alexx Ekubo, known for his charming screen presence and roles in several hit Nollywood movies, became one of Nigeria’s most celebrated actors over the years. He gained widespread recognition for starring in romantic dramas, comedy films, and television productions that earned him a massive fan base across Africa.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by the actor’s family or representatives to confirm the reports surrounding his alleged death.
