Blord Remanded in Kuje Prison: VeryDarkMan Wins Court Battle Over Alleged Identity Theft and Impersonation
Blord Remanded in Kuje Prison: VeryDarkMan Wins Court Battle Over Alleged Identity Theft and Impersonation
By Endurance Jonah Idah
In a dramatic turn in one of Nigeria’s most high-profile social media feuds, cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as Blord
, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja for 26 days. The Federal High Court ordered the remand following his arraignment on April 1, 2026, meaning he will spend Easter behind bars.
Blord, a well-known figure in Nigeria’s crypto and business circles, faces charges including criminal conspiracy, impersonation, forgery, and unauthorised use of the identity and image of social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM)
The Allegations
According to VDM, Blord allegedly misused his name and likeness in promotional materials for business ventures, including apps like Billpoint and Blunt Gadget. Specific claims include:
- Placing VDM’s image on billboards and flyers without consent.
- Falsely claiming that VDM served as a brand ambassador and boasting of paying him ₦500 million.
- Forging flight tickets in VDM’s name to suggest he was attending events, such as a product launch in Onitsha.
VDM, who has long maintained in his bio that he does not endorse or promote products, described the actions as a clear violation of his personal brand and rights. He shared videos of Blord being escorted from court to prison, captioning one: “I don send am go jail.
Blord pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court, presided over by Justice Amea Mu, adjourned the case to April 27, 2026, and ordered his remand in the interim.
Public Reactions and Backlash
The development has ignited heated debates across social media platforms. Supporters of VDM praise him for fiercely protecting his image and reputation in an era where digital identity theft is rampant. Critics, however, accuse VDM of overreach, arguing that Blord who is seen by many as a job creator in the crypto space should not face such harsh treatment over what some describe as a “business misunderstanding.”
Prominent activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has publicly criticised VDM’s approach and indicated plans to intervene in support of Blord’s release.
Blord reportedly broke his silence from detention, sharing details of a supposed prior agreement with VDM that allegedly broke down, further fuelling online discourse.
Background of the Feud
The clash between Blord and VDM is not new. The two have engaged in public spats involving insults, business accusations, and competing online narratives. This latest legal escalation highlights growing tensions around personal branding, intellectual property, and the power of social media influencers in Nigeria.
As the case progresses, it raises broader questions about the boundaries of digital endorsements, the enforcement of image rights, and the intersection of celebrity influence and the law.
Stay tuned for updates. The matter returns to court on April 27. What started as an online rivalry has now become a significant legal precedent in Nigeria’s evolving digital landscape.
